I offer a courtesy 10-15 minute consultation call.
I hold all sessions for 50 minutes. I also offer longer sessions (75-90 mins) for an additional fee. These sessions will have to be scheduled in advance.
I prefer to meet with new clients weekly for the first month to establish a therapeutic rapport and better understand their needs and goals. After that, most people choose to meet with me every other week. For longer-term clients who have met their therapeutic goals, we often have monthly check-in sessions as a form of mental health maintenance. I do not meet with new clients monthly, as this is not consistent enough to establish a meaningful therapeutic relationship.
Your motivation to change is vital. I firmly believe that the most progress in therapy happens outside of the therapy sessions and relies on your commitment and willingness to apply the insights gained in therapy to your daily life. I understand that not every therapist is the right fit for every client, and that therapy alone may not be sufficient to deal with emotional suffering or discomfort. Therapy is just one tool among many needed to take care of oneself emotionally. In general, therapy is a helpful option for most people.
I will start the session with a quick review of the formal aspects of your intake paperwork, such as limitations to client confidentiality and the cancellation policy. This will ensure that you have no questions or concerns before we begin. After briefly going through these key parts of the intake paperwork, we will dedicate the majority of the session to discussing foundational information, such as your therapeutic goals, family history, and social support system, including current or past romantic relationships.
No, I do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a statement for insurance reimbursement if you want to file claims with your insurance provider for any out-of-pocket expenses.
I prioritize autonomy and client collaboration in my therapeutic work. Unfortunately, insurance involvement can have a negative impact on these aspects. Insurance companies tend to underpay clinicians and also control the duration of a client's treatment and which therapeutic approaches are covered.
Yes, I do. Please indicate that you will be using a Loveland Foundation Voucher at the time of our consultation.
My current session fee range is $90-$120 for new clients. Payment is expected at the time of service. During our consultation call, we will discuss and agree on your session fee rate.
I am open to discussing a reduced cost session fee of $80.
Every clinician has their own approach to setting fees, but many of us charge within a certain range for various reasons. Factors such as office rent, EHR platform fees, transaction/service fees for credit/debit card usage, health insurance, continuing education and licensure maintenance requirements, additional federal self-employment tax, federal and state taxes, as well as our everyday life needs all play a role in determining our fees. We set our fees in a way that allows us to sustain our work financially and avoid over-extension, which can lead to burnout. This helps to ensure that our capacity to provide therapy remains strong and prevents any negative impact on the quality of our work.
Just come with clothes on your body. I am a therapist who mostly wears flowy pants and sneakers and dresses to my particular comfort. I invite you to do the same.
Yes. Please ensure you are in a safe and private area.
Feel free to call, email, or message me through the Simple Practice client portal for any business-related communication. However, please refrain from sharing any personal history or private information in your messages. If you choose to text me, please limit your messages to scheduling requests or related needs. Please note that I typically do not respond to messages outside of regular business hours, including weekends. Thank you for your understanding and patience.
No, I am not. We will discuss a potential safety and crisis plan during our initial sessions. This will help to create an idea of what might be some accessible and reasonable strategies to use in the case of a crisis between sessions.
